Behaviour

Children who feel secure with their teachers generally respond well to the occasional gentle reprimand. Praising effort, kindness and sensitivity also encourages children in positive social skills.

Good behaviour is enthusiastically encouraged at all times and consistent standards such as lining up when moving between rooms helps children to understand working together, and behaving as expected.

Regular dialogue with parents assists greatly in our understanding of a child and helps us teach the necessary boundaries of school. Occasionally we may suggest that a child postpones attending until the following term if we feel that they are emotionally immature and not ready for group activity. We reserve the right to suspend a place without notice if a child’s behaviour is detrimental to the learning and safety of the other children. This step would only be taken after other strategies had failed and in consultation with parents.
