Feeling festive

The icy frost in the mornings set the scene this week as the nursery was transformed into a winter wonderland by our Christmas elves.  The children were memorised by the decorations and it has been lovely to see their reactions when arriving to nursery.  Christmas is such a special time at the nursery and we can really feel the excitement in the air.In the art room the children played with jelly snow, a fluffy white jelly powder that feels like real snow.... read more

Oh starry night

With the days growing shorter and the sun setting earlier it has been a perfect opportunity for us to talk about the night time. In the art room the preschool children drew pictures of things they see at night including fireworks, spaceships and owls. The younger children made night-time paintings by printing moons and stars onto black paper. Autumn leaves

Autumn has well and truly arrived and as the temperature dropped so to did the leaves on our giant beech tree in the garden.   The children mucked in to sweep up the leaves, collect them in wheelbarrows and piling them into houses for hedgehogs.  Not surprisingly their hard work was quickly undone when they realised that it was much more fun to jump in the piles and throw the leaves in their air! Barking mad

What a barking mad week we had when the children were visited by lots of different animals.  At the beginning of the week the children met Romeo the Cockapoo, Dot the dog and Bramble the retired racing greyhound.  Mrs Beechey brought in her cat Jasper who was treated to cooked chicken for being well behaved and Miss Natalie’s sister came in with two baby rabbits for the children to hold in assembly.On Wednesday Ark Farm brought a number of their animals... read more

Double Whammy

This week’s blog is a double whammy covering all the exciting things the children have done over the past two weeks.  Last week our theme was senses and each day we focused on a different sense.
